Purchased this machine on November 25 and it made absolutely amazing coffee over the Thanksgiving weekend. On December 1 we woke up to beans in the basket but the water did not brew. Tried again with no luck. We called Capresso customer service and they immediately sent out a replacement that we received on December 4. Well, the new one brewed water and would grind beans, put would not open the path for the beans to dump in the basket. 0 for 2 and no way I am going to go 0 for 3. Eliminate frustration and look elsewhere for a coffee maker, this one is not ready for primetime. Which is a shame because the 6 pots of coffee it did make were absolutely fabulous.

Piece of garbage. First off, the stainless steel carafe leaks. The clock is not even close to being accurate. It jumps 10 minutes ahead per 24 hrs. Constantly resetting it. In automatic, you are to be able to choice between grind/brew or just brew. It never just brews, grinder comes on no matter the setting. Please look elsewhere for a coffee maker/grinder.

I really wanted this coffee maker to work, it is great in theory and had pretty good reviews. The water pump in mine would not work. The machine produced enormous amounts of steam and condensation, but no coffee. I read and re-read the instructions and tried every possible programming option, but still only a tiny bit of black syrupy coffee in the pot after 45 minutes of sputtering steam. So I gave up and sent it back to the great people at Amazon. One day I spotted the Capresso 455 in TJMaxx at a much reduced price. It is the older version of the 465 and works fine. I can’t give the 465 a bad review because mine had a faulty water pump, but I can say the 455 is great.

I wanted an all-in-one coffee maker to replace my Cuisinart (which recently passed away — sad to say). I am used to cone filtered, strong coffee and this coffee maker just doesn’t stand up. For reference, I usually use Peet’s French Roast beans and prefer a strong cup of coffee (like what you would get at a coffee shop). The first time I tried the Capresso machine I did it on the factory settings… made 4 cups and left it on the standard settings (middle grind coarseness and standard strength). It was literally watery and awful. The gold filter had coffee in it, but not very much. So I set it up to run again — this time taking the manual’s advice for dark roasts and setting it to the coarsest grind, setting the strength to strong and also asking it to grind beans for 6 cups instead of 4… still very weak coffee. So I did it a third time, setting it to 10 on the grinder and made a 4 cup pot (again, coarse grind, strong setting). This is the strongest setting this coffee maker can be set at and it was barely palatable. Maybe I got a lemon, but this is NOT for folks that like a rich cup of coffee. It’s being returned as I speak…
